Meet Sean.
Sean Northup (he/him) is the Deputy Director of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Planning Organization. Drawing on his diverse planning experience, Sean helps set the strategic direction of the department. His responsibilities include management of the MPO budget, federal grant management, and coordination of the planning, engineering, and public engagement efforts of Indy Connect, Central Indiana’s Transit Initiative.
Sean has earned two degrees from Ball State University’s College of Architecture and Planning: a Bachelor's of Urban Planning & Development, and a Master's of Urban & Regional Planning. Sean currently lives in Broad Ripple (Indianapolis) with his wife, Hannah, son, Graeme, and daughter, Audrey.
His main responsibilities with the Indianapolis MPO include:
- Updating and maintaining the UPWP
- Providing professional planning and organizational management services within land use, housing, water, economic development, and environmental planning
- Assist in strategic leadership of the organization along with other general administrative tasks
- Working on special projects
