Regional Freight Network
The 2022 Central Indiana Regional Freight Plan (approved August 2022) includes updated information about regional planning needs that will be used to help prioritize multimodal infrastructure improvements and policy recommendations that will work to enhance the freight corridors and areas in the region.
The Regional Freight Plan StoryMap & Dashboard walk through the various components of the Freight Network Map and the Freight Issues & Gaps for Central Indiana.
The Regional Freight Network Map could be used in a number of ways:
- Assist Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) with identifying the critical urban freight corridors in the Central Indiana region for the statewide freight network.
- Inform IMPO, local governments, and INDOT of what corridors need particular attention to support efficient and safe goods movement.
- Support the IMPO, local governments, and INDOT in making decisions regarding recommendations from transportation projects to policy and operational changes that can impact regional freight mobility.
- Prioritize projects in the IMPO's Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) and Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).
