IMPO Opens Central Indiana Ride Guide for Public Input During Bike Month
INDIANAPOLIS — In celebration of National Bike Month, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Planning Organization (IMPO) is inviting the public to help shape the future of biking in Central Indiana. The Ride Guide covers a large area of Central Indiana, from Westfield to Franklin, Danville to Greenfield, and more. Throughout the month of May, the Central Indiana Ride Guide will be open for public crowdsourcing, allowing community members to add new bike-friendly amenities and infrastructure directly to the regional map.
The Central Indiana Ride Guide is a digital tool designed to support bicyclists by mapping bikeways, bike lanes, trails, and key amenities such as bike racks and repair stations. The Ride Guide is updated regularly to reflect the evolving biking landscape across the region and is available online year-round.
“Bike Month is the perfect time to hear from the community,” said Anna Gremling, Executive Director at IMPO. “We know that people who bike daily or casually are the best sources of local information, and this is their chance to help make the Ride Guide even more useful.”
Visitors can submit information about new or missing bike amenities directly on the map. Bike lane and trail updates can be emailed to info@indympo.gov. All submissions will be reviewed and verified by IMPO staff before being added to the public resource.
In addition to the online crowdsourcing effort, IMPO will be promoting the Ride Guide at a series of Bike Month events across Indianapolis, including:
- May 4: Bike Fest at Guggman Haus 1-4pm
- May 12: Bike to Work Week Pop-Up at Pogue’s Run Trail and 10th Street 7-9am
- May 14: Bike to Work Week Pop-Up at Michigan Street Bike Lane and White River 7-9am
- May 16: Bike to Work Week Pop-Up on the Monon Trail at Half Liter 4-6pm
Attendees at these events can learn more about the Ride Guide, submit input in person, and receive promotional materials.
